Superconductivity and Electric Fields: a Relativistic Extension of Bcs Superconductivity

The effects of static electric fields on the superconducting state are studied within a relativistic extension of the BCS theory of superconductivity.

Chern-Simons theory and BCS superconductivity

We study the relationship between the holomorphic unitary connection of ChernSimons theory with temporal Wilson lines and the Richardson’s exact solution of the reduced BCS Hamiltonian. We derive the integrals of motion of the BCS model, their eigenvalues and eigenvectors as a limiting case of the Chern-Simons theory.

BCS theory of p + h - wave superconductivity

– Recently the superconducting gap functions of the skutterudite PrOs4Sb12 have been proposed [K. Maki et al, Europhys. Lett. 68, 720 (2004)]. The superconductivity is spin-triplet and consists of at least 2 distinct phases in a magnetic field, which bears some resemblance to superfluid 3 He. Here we present our analysis of the thermodynamic properties of these two superconducting states within...

Nuclear Superconductivity in Compact Stars: Bcs Theory and Beyond

This chapter provides a review of microscopic theories of pairing in nuclear systems and neutron stars. Special attention is given to the mean-field BCS theory and its extensions to include effects of polarization of the medium and retardation of the interactions. Superfluidity in nuclear systems that exhibit isospin asymmetry is studied. We further address the crossover from the weak-coupling ...

Relaxation of nonlinear oscillations in BCS superconductivity

The diagonal case of the sl(2) Richardson-Gaudin quantum pairing model [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] is known to be solvable as an Abel-Jacobi inversion problem [8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15]. This is an isospectral (stationary) solution to a more general integrable hierarchy, in which the full time evolution can be written as isomonodromic deformations. Physically, the more general solution is appropr...
